Product Review: Tnoder USB 3.0 to RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet Network Adapter
Disclaimer: I provide honest reviews of products that I receive for free or at discounted rates.
The Tnoder USB 3.0 to RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet Network Adapter is a plug-and-play USB 3.0 to Gigabit Ethernet Network Adapter for Windows PCs and Mac.
The device itself is an ultra-portable USB to Gigabit Ethernet adapter, measuring roughly 7 inches (17.8 centimeters) from tip to tip. The connectors use lightweight aluminum housing to offer additional protection and the flexible rubberized cable seems relatively sturdy and should stand up to repeated use without having to worry about breaking. On the technical side of things, the adapter has a Realtek USB GBE Family Network Controller chipset, which despite being advertised as a Macbook Air/Pro adapter, also installs and functions without issue on Windows PCs and may not even require a driver to be downloaded/installed if you’re able to connect to Windows Update services during the detection of the device.
The adapter will work on USB 1.1, USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports as well, obviously though, when connected to a USB 1.1 or 2.0 port, it will not achieve the same speeds as a USB 3.0 port would, nor will you be able to achieve the full gigabit port speed of the adapter.
I was able to get transfer speeds of about 900 Mbps consistently when transferring files over a gigabit network. Considering network overhead on each side of the connection and plenty of other active devices connected to my router, it would seem that the transfer speeds I was seeing are well within the range of acceptable rates.
If you’re looking for an easily portable, lightweight, stylish and easy-to-use USB 3.0 to Gigabit Ethernet adapter, I would highly recommend the Tnoder USB 3.0 to RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet Network Adapter.
