Dragonpad USA Microphone Suspension Boom Scissor Arm Stand

The Dragonpad USA Microphone Suspension Boom Scissor Arm Stand is a table-mounted scissor style boom arm stand for microphones. Included with the microphone stand is a flexible gooseneck arm pop filter, for reducing the sound of plosives during recording.

The scissor arm stand itself is exceptionally well built, made of aluminum, with high tension springs to allow the boom arm to be positioned without requiring readjustment later on. The table mount is a butterfly nut vice-style mount with a maximum height of 2 inches (5 centimeters). The mount also features a thin rubber pad to prevent damage to the table you’re attaching the mount to.

The mount comes with a universal dynamic microphone clip that can be used to connect a dynamic microphone for live performances, however, if you’re using the scissor arm stand for recording, you’re likely going to be replacing the microphone clip with something that will allow a condenser or ribbon microphone to be attached, in which case, you’ll need to use the included 5/8″ male to 3/8″ female adapter. The adapter itself is plastic, which doesn’t provide for an exceptionally tight connection and it can experience a small amount of wobbling, especially when attaching heavier microphones, so you may want to purchase a separate metal adapter.

The gooseneck on the pop filter doesn’t seem to hold it’s position exceptionally well and there isn’t really anywhere to properly affix the mount on the pop filter to the boom arm stand. If the vice mount on the pop filter had been 1/8″ longer, it would have allowed for the pop filter to be attached to the boom arm without any issue, but alas, that is not the case.

For the price, you’re getting about the same quality and features that you would get from any other similar product offered by any number of other brands out there, which is to say, it’s pretty difficult to mess up with a product like this and Dragonpad USA gets it right.
